NITC - Job Opportunity
NITC (www.nitc.nl) are currently seeking to strengthen their team with the addition of a Marketing Executive for their Amsterdam office.
The Marketing Executive shall work closely with the Managing Director and Consultants in carrying out in-depth business to business research and sales development on behalf of a wide range of clients. Working on a project-by-project basis, the position offers the opportunity to work with a wide range of client companies operating in a variety of industrial sectors.
The core activities of the Marketing Executive function are:
- Market Research – Carrying out business-to-business market research, including identifying business partners, end users and export opportunities for client companies
- Business Development – Generating sales leads and opportunities for client companies
- Trade Mission Organisation – Preparing for Trade Missions to the Netherlands, Ireland and other European markets
The successful candidate shall have at least 2 years experience in a similar, or general business development, role and the following:
- Private sector mentality
- Strong sales or marketing background with a proven track record
- Language skills – Dutch mother tongue and fluent English
- Other languages (especially French and German) advantageous
- Broad knowledge of Dutch and or Irish industry
- Outstanding communication skills – spoken and written
- Ability to respond positively to new challenges with a pro-active attitude
- Self-motivated and target orientated
- Ability to work in an office environment
- Good IT skills including Databasing and Powerpoint
- Driving licence advantageous

Education & Qualifications
Steve Murnaghan graduated in French and Business Administration from Queen's University Belfast before specialising in European Export Marketing Management at the Irish Institute for European Affairs and U.C.L. (Belgium) in 1991.
He completed his studies at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam where he was awarded the Interuniversitair Toelatingsexamen Nederland in 1992.
Employment History
Following a period in the PR and translation department of the Anglo/French GEC Alsthom in Belfort, France, he worked for Colas N.I. / Royal Dutch Shell for whom he carried out research in Belgium, Holland and the UK. In Amsterdam he worked free-lance for Interview N.V. with clients such as IBM and Heineken, before establishing a consultancy practice specialising in assisting Northern Ireland companies to assess the Benelux markets in 1993.
Language Skills
Language skills include fluent English, Dutch and French. He has been resident in Amsterdam for 12 years having previously lived in France and Belgium.
Professional Memberships
Steve is past Vice President of the Irish Netherlands Business Association and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Steve Murnaghan has final responsibility for all projects carried out by NITC, and supervises all projects carried out by NITC Consultants.
